Participants will learn essentials of composition and how to improve the photos that you take in order to make the most out of your vacations or photographic excursions. This is the step that will set you apart from the average Smart Phone photographer. Specific scenarios will be engaged in order to give you the precise information that you need to deal with challenges such as sunrise and sunset, snow and Shadow, dealing with high contrast or low contrast situations, night photography, water, people in the outdoors, animals and wildlife.

Intro to Acrylic: Exploring the art of Richard Diebenkorn

American abstract expressionist Richard Diebenkorn was an influential painter who presented figurative images in a lyrical, geometric style. This class will focus on acrylic painting techniques, including a basic introduction to acrylics, color mixing, and color theory. Students are asked to bring a photo of a favorite landscape, and we will explore various techniques for translating a realistic image into abstraction. The class is geared toward beginner to intermediate level artists, with individual attention given to each student.

Pine Needle Weaving and Gourd Embellishing with Karey Dodge 12:00-4:00 November 12th 2020 $75 

In this workshop Karey Dodge will share her creativity in decorating gourds with pine needles. You will use dyes, pine needles, colorful threads, beads, and feathers to create a one of a kind piece of art. Materials included.

Painting A Tahoe Winter Scene in Watercolor with Eva Nichols 3:00-6:00

November 19th 2020 $57 

In this workshop we will go over the basics of watercolor painting, including color theory, traditional as well as unconventional methods of applying paint on paper.  Glazing, wet-into-wet, dry into wet, and dry brushing techniques.  Use of resist, sprinkling of salt, and other experimental effects to create a beautiful Winter-inspired painting.  Beginner to Intermediate Level. Gustav Klimt is well known for his opulent paintings utilizing metallic paints and intricate details. The class will include a primer on painting with acrylics, color mixing, color theory, and incorporating metallic colors while analyzing and exploring elements of Klimt’s style. Jazz! Paper Collage inspired by Henri Matisse with Carole Sesko 2:00-4:00

Henri Matisse was a renowned artist who is well-recognized for his Jazz series. In this fun and relaxing class, we will study Matisse’s paper collage, exploring compositional techniques and color theory through a series of exercises. Students will make colorful notecards and have an option to make larger works suitable for framing. This class is appropriate for beginner to intermediate level students.
