Kathleen Hallamore

I have always been interested in color and light. As a child, I paid
more attention to the Stained Glass windows in church than I did to the
service. As I matured and traveled, I became fascinated with geology and
land forms. These continue to be constant influences in my work.

Like many glass artists I started in Stained Glass. I took my first
class in 1975. After a few years I took a sandblast carving class in 1982 and
a fusing class in 1984. As for my Jewelry, I am self taught. I opened my
studio/gallery, Tapestry Glass, in Reno, NV in 1985 and the studio and I
thrived for 30 years. I closed it in 2015. I thoroughly enjoyed making
things for commercial and residential clients but now I enjoy the freedom
to create what I want. I’ve been playing with Lampworked glass since the
1990’s but have recently been more interested in the sculptural
possibilities. In the Fall of 2023 I was able to study with Lucio Bubacco in
Murano, Italy and Mauro Vianello in Venice.

At this time my focus is on Fusing and Jewelry (I hope to add the
glass sculpture in the future). I now operate as Hallamore Designs to focus
on this new direction. I have a BA in Theatre, with a concentration in
design, and a minor in Art from the University of Nevada (Reno). My
husband and I lived in Tahoe City part time for many years. I now live in
Reno.
