Born and raised in Buffalo, NY (hence business name: Buffalo Bex), I spent most of my life and career in the very left-brained environment of engineering and aerospace. I hold several degrees including, for instance, a Master’s degree from Loughbororgh University in England where I also played rugby. I didn’t start out in art but the path I traveled in life, education, travel, sports, etc. certainly contributed to my creativity and the art I love to produce today. In 2002 I moved from Seattle to Sacramento. Faced with the dilemma of what to do with the rest of my life, I dove headfirst into the arts, trying every medium (watercolor, acrylic, oils, pastels, ceramics, graphic arts, photography, writing) and eventually obtaining an Associates in Fine Arts from American River College. But it wasn’t until moving to Truckee that I realized I preferred 3D art and, more importantly, metals. I took several welding classes at Sierra College in Rocklin and later studied metal smithing. The rest is history. I learned my craft starting with copper. It is still my preferred metal. I expanded into sliver under the tutelage of a talent jewelry artist I met at Sierra College. The result of my efforts were several art shows over the years and now the privilege of being part of North Tahoe Arts Gallery.
